Welcome to The Dalhousie Centre

Welcome to The Dalhousie Centre:

The Dalhousie Centre is a small, independent, and charity run day centre, for older adults, situated within the ‘city’ of Brechin.

We have provided a much needed service to older adults within Brechin and its surrounding area since 1988, when the late Dr’s Sarah E and Cyril Cohen founded the centre; along with a voluntary board/committee.  They recognised that the older adults of Brechin needed a place where they had the opportunity to socialise and be cared for.

We understand that the level of support required for each person is different, and that is why every member of the centre is treated as an individual.

Our aim is to provide the opportunity for members to make friendships, which help alleviate isolation and loneliness, and to be involved in stimulating activities while encouraging choice and independence.

Information is gathered about each member before they attend the centre so that we can encourage them to maintain old hobbies and skills, also build on learning new ones.

The service we deliver is provided by trained staff who ensure that best practice is followed at all times in line with the National Care Standards.
